All businesses have inputs and outputs that result in a range of environmental impacts, or aspects. Implementation of the Haden Young Environmental Management System helps to achieve and demonstrate sound environmental performance by controlling the impacts of activities and services on the environment.

Haden Young has conducted studies that systematically analyse every part and phase of our business and from that have developed a schedule of all our environmental aspects. Wee have then applied a process that allows us to determine if these are significant, either because they are legislated or because of their importance to Haden Young. Those issues identified as being of key importance are:

Activity Aspect (actual or potential) Impact Key Significance Factor
Waste Disposal Produce hazardous (special) and non-hazardous waste Risk that waste is not properly disposed of (e.g. fly tipped or placed in a landfill unsuited to that waste) The Environmental Protection Act 1990 Pt II, sets out fundamental controls (under Duty of Care) on waste handling, storage, transfer, treatment and disposal
Welding Operations 1) Emissions of carbon dioxide from electrical generators

2) Fumes, emissions and noise from diesel generators
1) Contributes (with other sources) to global climate change

2) Local nuisance
Complaints (actual or potential) from local community. Possible client requirement
Refuelling Plant & flushing of heating systems Oil/diesel spills and/or chemical pollution of water courses Potential for spill of fuel oil. Potential for pollution of controlled water Pollution of controlled water is an offence under Water Resources Act 1991 section 85
