Building Services Awards 2008 - Major M&E Contractor of the Year
In June 2008, Haden Young secured the M&E industry’s top award in being named Major M&E Contractor of the Year at the Building Services Awards ceremony. The panel of judges commented particularly on the recent substantial investment in Haden Young’s Modular Systems + manufacturing capability. In addition to services distribution module and modular wiring manufacturing centres Modular Systems + now includes a large scale GRP bathroom pod manufacturing unit. The application of this offsite technology has provided our customers with improvements in services installation efficiency across all sectors of our work.

Building Services Awards 2008 - Highly Commended - Health & Safety Initiative
Haden Young's Work Safe, Home Safe campaign won the company a Highly Commended plaudit in the Health & Safety Initiative category of the 2008 Building Services Awards.  This 'behavioural change' approach challenges attitudes and approaches.  Haden Young introduced the campaign with workshops and training from the Managing Director downwards.  Results have been impressive with AFR targets being beaten to continue a long standing downward trend.

Building Services Awards 2008 - Highly Commended - Training Award
In Highly Commending Haden Young for the Training Award, the 2008 Building Services Awards judges commented on the company's efforts to fill the skills gap in the building services industry.  Haden Young's commercial and building services foundation degree was developed in partnership with Liverpool Community College and John Moores University.  This is the first employer led qualification of this kind in the country.

Building Services Awards 2007 - Highly Commended Major Project of the Year
Queens Hospital in Romford was Highly Commended. The £261 million Queen’s Hospital, which replaces two existing hospitals, is a major new landmark for Romford. 939 beds are provided in one-to-four bed wards. Queen’s Hospital was delivered on time and within budget after a 39 month construction programme.

Commenting specifically on the performance of the DSSR/Haden Young team, for which he gave a nine out of ten score, Graham Hiley, Project Director for Bovis Lend Lease at Queen’s Hospital said:  “Both DSSR and Haden Young demonstrated excellent technical ability, clear thinking and above all, enthusiasm for working together to achieve the common goal of a successful project delivered to the highest quality on budget and to the programme.”

RoSPA Safety Awards 2007 - Highly Commended in Construction Industry Sector
A policy of continuous improvement is applied to Health and Safety where Haden Young observes the most stringent standards. This is evident from our continued success at the annual RoSPA Health & Safety Awards over many years.
This year the Midlands & Southern Region received the Order of Distinction for achieving over fifteen years of continual improvement in health & safety. The Scotland & Ireland, Northern Region and the London & South East Region each received the President’s Award for achieving over ten years continual improvement in health & safety.
In addition the overall Company was Highly Commended in the Construction Industry sector awards. This means we are in the top two or three companies in this hotly contested sector.
As well as receiving recognition by RoSPA we are also subject to ongoing audits of our HS&E Management System, by our independent external auditors Det Norske Veritas, to confirm that procedures are in place to ensure this excellent record will be maintained”.

The company's strong performance during 2006 was noted by the Building services Awards judges in Highly Commending Haden Young in the Major M&E Contractor of the Year category for 2006.  The judges were impressed by the results of Haden Young's national customer survey and the developments in the company's training programmes.  Particular comment was made on Haden Young's accreditation to ISO 14001 and 18001 as well as Haden Young's Investor in People status.

Building Services Awards 2004 - Major M&E Project of the Year
The £80 million Met Office Headquarters relocation project was named as the winner of both the Major Project of the Year and Best Office Building of the Year titles in the Building Services Awards 2004. Haden Young and ZBP, responsible, in partnership, for the high tech mechanical and electrical engineering systems in the Met Office building, impressed the judges by the way effective partnering delivered a balance of resilience and environmental friendliness in this complex services project on time and within budget.
